Snap Fitness

Snap Fitness, based in the Minneapolis suburb of Chanhassen, is the world’s fastest-growing franchisor of compact, state-of-the-art 24/7 fitness centres worldwide. They offer franchisees a proven, affordable business model that enables semi-absentee ownership, and provide members with a fast, convenient and affordable workout alternative to oversized, overpriced and overcrowded health clubs. The fitness centre’s feature 24/7 access, cardio and strengthtraining equipment that set industry standards, value-add services not available at comparable fitness clubs and a safe, secure environment.

Scion Communications required a robust and reliable audio system that could be left operating on a 24 hour basis. Due to the high demands of the audio system they contacted Monacor’s Commercial Audio Design department for bespoke system.

Main Gym Floor

A Monacor PA-12040 Matrix zone amplifier was used to give four independently controlled zones in the main gym area so that the client could play different genres of music in various areas. We also used the cosmetically pleasing ESP-232 loudspeakers in the main gym area which have a great frequency response and have multiple 100 V line tappings so that the system could be balanced across all areas.

Virtual Fitness Studio

In this area we had to create a system that gave a high energy punchy sound for the Virtual Fitness Classes that take place, so we used the PAB-88 2-way low impedance loudspeakers that worked great within the constraints of the low ceiling and also hit volume levels that combatted the noise created from gym members following the virtual instructor that was being played on the videowall. To drive the PAB-88 loudspeakers we used the energy efficient STA-300D which delivers the right amount of power while also keeping power consumption to a minimum which was a must for a 24 hour gym environment.
