With twelve operational locations, wineBANK is the world's largest network of private members' clubs for wine enthusiasts. At present, the clubs which are accessible around the clock include approximately 2,000 members at various locations in Germany, Vienna and Washington D.C.
The wineBANK Heidelberg in the old wine manufactory (Alte Weinfabrik) which is a historic cellar vault, is located directly on Bismarckplatz in the heart of the city between the castle, the old town and the river Neckar, Germany. This is where architect and operator Thomas Velten has created a new venue for exclusive wine tastings, private meetings and good talks among wine lovers. The centrepiece of the Private Members' Club in Heidelberg is a cellar vault with a length of 40 m. There are more than 26,000 bottles stored in 12 locked wine cellars containing 300 compartments. Exquisite tobacco products can be enjoyed in the separate cigar lounge. Private tastings or larger gatherings can take place in a meeting room. The wineBANK in Heidelberg opened its doors on 23 May 2024 and is the 12th branch of the franchise concept.
The speakers should perfectly be integrated into the room architecture as well as fulfil the highest sound requirements. The premises of the wineBANK in Heidelberg include the cellar vault with a length of approx. 40 m and other adjoining rooms spread over several floors. A complex installation with audio cables of several hundred metres ought to be avoided. Thus, we intended to have a wireless audio connection from the speakers to the audio source. A zone separation in each room, including individual volume control was required as well as a perfect sound distribution both in large rooms and confined spaces. A suspended ceiling installation was required in the cellar vault with a ceiling height of approx. 6 m.

Wireless speakers from Spottune allow for quick and flexible mounting: installation to 3-phase high-voltage rails via plug-and-play, suitable for ceiling installations or as a pendant speaker for suspended mounting. Thus, it was possible to respond flexibly and individually to different spatial conditions of the location. Soft background music now contributes significantly to a pleasant atmosphere which provides an enjoyable environment for wine tastings, business meetings and networking evenings.
A total of 4 x OMNI-CORD/SW, 2 x OMNI-REC/WS and 3 x OMNI-TRACK/SW have been applied to fully meet the acoustic requirements for the rooms. The 4 controllable audio zones include cellar vault, lounges with reception as well as sanitary facilities. With a frequency response of 50 Hz to 15 kHz, the speakers from Spottune achieve a maximum sound pressure level of 100 dB.
Speakers OMNI-CORD/SW from Spottune have been applied in the cellar vault. They feature a cable with a length of 5 m to allow for a suspended ceiling installation without any difficulties. With 2 speakers only, it is possible to achieve a homogeneous sound distribution in the acoustically demanding cellar vault with a height of 6 m. With the unobtrusive design, both speakers appear to be almost floating in the room.
Each speaker from Spottune features an omnidirectional polar pattern. The 360° sound radiation allows for a homogeneous sound distribution in every direction. This creates a pleasant and consistent sound experience, regardless of the position in the room. Thanks to this 360° sound field, the room requires less speakers for an effective sound reproduction.
