It is buzzing at the zoo!
Elephants wallow in puddles, pelicans relax by the lake, monkeys jump from tree to tree and exotic birds twitter their most beautiful songs. In Schwerin Zoo, visitors experience fascinating animals from all over the world up close.
More than 2,400 animals and 154 species live in the Schwerin Zoological Garden. The natural animal enclosures with tigers, rhinos, giraffes and more have been delighting young and old for many years. With over 200,000 visitors a year, Schwerin Zoo is one of the major tourist attractions of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania's state capital.
Adventures stimulate the appetite
The Vielfalter restaurant, where golden brown schnitzels, crisp salads and delicious pasta are on the menu, is idyllically nestled in the scenery between the Schwerin lakeland and the zoo ponds. The Vielfalter Bistro at the Zoo, in the immediate vicinity of the elephant enclosure, provides zoo visitors with a very special culinary break in an exceptional atmosphere. Freshly fortified, they can continue their visit to the zoo.
The Dreescher Werkstätten, one of the largest social institutions and employers in Schwerin, took over the restaurant in Schwerin Zoo in 2021 and established it as the inclusive Vielfalter Bistro at the Zoo, where people with and without disabilities work as a team since then. For their new gastronomic concept, the Dreescher Werkstätten have converted large parts of the existing restaurant.
